Certificate of Advanced Studies in Civilian Peacebuilding
Following the popularity and success of our postgraduate course in Civilian Peacebuilding (Certificate of Advanced Studies - CAS) since its launch in 2012, it is our pleasure to announce the third consecutive year of this 11-month training, offered by swisspeace and the University of Basel, starting in September.
Aim of the Course
Civilian Peacebuilding is a necessary cornerstone of any efforts to transform violent conflict and build sustainable peace. This course provides a holistic understanding of Civilian Peacebuilding. It analyzes theories, concepts, debates, policies and practices in:
- Peacebuilding analysis & impact
- Peacebuilding & statebuilding
- Gender in conflict & peacebuilding
- Peace mediation
- Dealing with the past
- Business, conflict & peacebuilding
Participants will:
- Reflect critically on peacebuilding practices
- Link theoretical and conceptual inputs with their work activities
- Acquire peacebuilding skills and tools
- Benefit from a wide network of peacebuilding professionals
Target Audience
The course is designed for practitioners and academics interested in bridging their own experiences with current academic insights and practical knowledge on Civilian Peacebuilding.
A minimum of two years of professional experience in relevant fields and a university degree (minimum BA) or an equivalent educational background are required.
The course will be held with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 25 participants.
